Kupuna@Home Home Caregiver Training

Aloha,

The Kupuna Education Center is excited to inform the community about its paraprofessional home caregiver training.  In keeping with our local branding effort, we are now calling this program Kupuna@Home!   The training program is based on the national acclaimed Schmieding Method developed by the Schmieding Center for Senior Health and Education of Arkansas.   Since 2008, our Center has offered the Elder Pal (Companion Aide), Personal Care Assistant, Home Care Assistant and the Alzheimer’s Disease courses.

Beginning in the Summer of 2014, the Kupuna Education Center is now embarking on new initiatives with the Arkansas-based Schmieding Center and two other participating training centers in Texas and California.

Here is what you can expect from the Summer of 2014 through 2015.   (1) Introduction of a low-interest tuition loan through our Arkansas partner, (2) introduction of a new Family Caregiver Advocacy course (40 hours) and the creation of hybrid (online and classroom) versions of the training so that it is more available statewide.
